Millions join “No Kings” protests across the U.S. in a major demonstration against the Trump administration. Learn about the rallies in NYC, D.C., and Chicago, with speeches from Bernie Sanders and Chuck Schumer.

On October 18, 2025, millions of Americans participated in “No Kings” protests in a widespread demonstration against the Trump administration’s policies. Rallies took place in hundreds of cities and towns across the country, from major hubs like New York City and Washington, D.C., to smaller communities, representing one of the largest single days of protest in U.S. history.

In Washington, D.C., prominent figures, including Senator Bernie Sanders and science educator Bill Nye, addressed a large crowd. Senator Sanders emphasized that the gatherings were a show of love for the country, stating, “We the people will rule”. Meanwhile, in New York City, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer marched alongside labor unions, encouraging Americans to exercise their right to free speech.

The protests, which organizers said were a response to what they see as the administration’s crackdown on First Amendment rights, were largely peaceful and featured a street-party atmosphere in many locations. Despite this, the events were criticized by some Republican leaders, who dismissed them as “Hate America” rallies.
